Administering flu vaccinations this year to our patients that are over 65 years old and those who are ‘at risk’ is going to be more challenging than ever due to the social distancing required as we continue to manage COVID-19. As we are not currently able to provide our usual open days (due to the potential number of patients attending) all appointments will need to be pre-booked.
From the middle of September, we should have the flu vaccines to administer to the over 65 year olds and children aged 2 and 3 on 31st August 2020 (children born between 1st September 2016 and 31 August 2018)
We will not receive vaccines for the under 65 at risk patients until the middle of October. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT US TO BOOK YOUR FLU IF YOU FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY. WE WILL UPDATE OUR WEBSITE WHEN THESE VACCINES BECOME AVAILABLE.
Important Information for patients aged 50-64
As part of the COVID-19 response this year, patients aged 50-64 years old have been included in the flu programme, however this will not be available until later in the year and only if there are adequate vaccine supplies. Please look out for further information on this.
Options to Book Appointments
To ensure that we are in a position to safely vaccinate our patients and to increase your confidence in attending for this important vaccination, we have a variety of options available for you to pre-book:
- Given in the Surgery
Appointments during the working week; with the option of a Saturday or Sunday morning (depending on demand)
- Drive-in Option
For those patients who would like the option of having their flu vaccine administered without the need to enter the building; we are testing a drive-in option. Adults/children do not need to leave their car as the nurse will come out to the car park. This option may be preferable for those patients that have been shielding or for families with small children.
Please contact the surgery as soon as possible to book your appointment or to let us know that you do not wish to take up the offer of a flu vaccination.
